The Crystal City Public Library has been providing the community with library service since 1916.

The Mission of the Crystal City Public Library is to provide all citizens of the community, from pre-school through adulthood, access to a balanced collection in print and in electronic formats which will enhance their educational, cultural and recreational needs.

FREE 2017 MO DOR Permit Practice Tests Available

These practice tests are good for the permit test, driver’s license test and the senior citizens’ refresher test.
 The written part of those tests at
all Missouri DOR locations is the same.

LIBRARY PROCEDURES

LIBRARY CARDS

  • Residents of Crystal City
    Cards are free for anyone living or owning property in Crystal City.  Proof of residency in the form of a tax  receipt or utility stub with current address is required to apply. 

  • Non-Residents Cards
    A family card is available for a fee of $25.00 a year and $20.00 a year for senior citizens. Crystal City Public Library Cards may be used at the Festus Public Library. (Non-residents will be required to pay $1.00).

  • Lost Library Cards
    Replacement: $1.00.

LIBRARY MATERIALS

The library has the following loan periods for its materials:

  • Adult/Children’s’ Books: 2 weeks

  • Audio Books: 2 weeks                                                 

  • Audio CDs (music)2 weeks                                                        

  • Video Tapes/DVD:  3 days                                                                      

  • Magazines: 5 days

  • Reference Books  In-library use  

      Materials that are not on reserve or overdue may be renewed over the phone.


RESERVES

Patrons may ask that a new arrival or currently loaned book, video or audio tape be reserved for them. These items will be held for 3 days at the desk, after notification by phone. If not called for by the end of the third day the material will be given to the next person on the reserve list. Reserved materials will not renewed.                                                                                             
For our patrons’ convenience a book return bin for returning books, magazines and vertical file materials, before or after library hours,  is located on the sidewalk near the parking lot.

SERVICES AVAILABLE

  • Internet Access - 10 stations
    Internet users will be given a copy of the library’s Internet Access Policy and will be required to read and sign a Internet Access Agreement. (Users under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign on their behalf.  Users 13 to 17 may use the Internet unaccompanied with permission from their parent or guardian.)

  • Word Processing: 10 stations

  • Typewriter (electric)

  • Photocopying:   .25 per page 

  • Computer Printouts:   .10 per page black & white

  • Fax Service:  $1.25 - First page/.50 - each additional page(No charge to receive faxes of 5 pages or less)

  • Closed Circuit TV: For those with low vision.

  • Automated Catalog & Circulation System for checking currently available library holdings.

INTERLIBRARY LOANS
Items not found in the library's collection may be available from another library. There is no charge if the lending library is a member of our courier network, otherwise there is a postage and handling charge for any material borrowed.

BOOK DONATIONS
The library accepts book donations; those not needed in the library collection will be offered for sale.

VOTER REGISTRATION
Registration is accepted during regular business hours with I.D. and proof of residency.  

E-MAIL CLUB
Monthly notification by e-mail of new items added to the Library collection.

SUMMER READING PROGRAM
A summer reading program for Preschool-6th grade is held annual from the middle of June through the end of August.

STORY-TIME
A Pre-school - 1st grade story time is held during the summer starting in July.

MEETING ROOM 
Room available for private parties and meetings for a nominal fee – Reservations must be made in advance.
